  1. Laboratory tests are often part of a routine checkup to look for changes in your health. They also help doctors diagnose medical conditions, plan or evaluate treatments, and monitor diseases.

Clinical chemistry (also known as chemical pathology, clinical biochemistry or medical biochemistry) is the area of chemistry that is generally concerned with analysis of bodily fluids for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.

Blood chemistry tests are blood tests that measure amounts of certain chemicals in a sample of blood. They show how well certain organs are working and can help find abnormalities. Blood chemistry tests may also be called chemistry panels.

Calibration is the process of evaluating and adjusting the precision and accuracy of measurement equipment. Proper calibration of an instrument allows people to have a safe working environment and produce valid data for future reference.

After processing the blood, clinical chemists can examine key aspects of the patient's health. For example, they can also determine levels of blood glucose, which is used by the body for energy. ... This is an early indication of certain liver diseases or blood cells that can indicate an infection or injury in the body.

Chemistry panels are groups of tests that are routinely ordered to determine a person's general health status. They help evaluate, for example, the body's electrolyte balance and/or the status of several major body organs. The tests are performed on a blood sample, usually drawn from a vein.

Exists 2 different washing solution configurations including 2 kind of cuvette Cleaner solutions and 2 kind of Extra cuvette washing solutions, which must never be confused !

* We recommend the New Washing Configuration because it’s more effective, ensuring greater reliability of the results and preserving the transparency of the cuvettes for a longer time.

When the amount of tests that have run on the system since the “last cuvette replacement” approaches 20,000, the software alerts the operator with a message on the screen: it’s time to replace cuvettes that must be changed with new ones.

The cuvette life may be shorter than 20,000 tests, if not properly washed or if latex reagents are used.

The average lamp life is 2000 hours and can be easily replaced when necessary, the instrument informs you when it must be replaced.

It’s possible to program pre-dilution and the post-dilution in case of “Out of Linearity / High limit”, “Substrate Depletion”, “Out of Reference Range”.

It is possible to program the pre-dilution for each application.

It is also possible to schedule post-dilution on demand or automatically (according to predetermined rules).

The user can add urgent samples (STAT) at any time. The STAT samples can be placed in free positions of the sample tray and they will be processed with priority.

For closed systems the reagent data is automatically loaded by the smart card reader.

For open systems the lot number and expiration date of the reagents must be edited and the barcode reader (if present) will do a positive match of the data.

To guarantee the reliability of the results over time perform the periodic maintenance as indicated in the manual.

In addition to the above:

Keep the external tanks clean (wash the tanks for the washing solutions with distilled water every 2 refills to avoid an increase in the concentration of solutes on the bottom of the tanks which could cause the formation of foam in the washing solutions).

Use Bi-distilled water for washing solutions.

Replace the cuvettes with new ones when necessary.

Respect the environmental conditions indicated in the manual.

The operator can use the Instrument Factor to correlate results with other systems.

The operator can decide to adjust the Instrument Factor if he wants to align the results of the method with the desired results.
Default values of the Instrument Factor are a=1, b=0 to be set in case the operator doesn’t need the instrument factor influence.

The “Time to End” option is available only for Miura One, for the other models refer to the declared test throughput and to the status of the running displayed in Status Panel.

In case of problems with results replace the cuvette if they are not perfectly clean and dry, clean the sampler probe with ethanol solution at 70%.

  • Wash the tanks for washing solutions with distilled water every 2 refills to prevent the increase in solute concentration at the bottom of the tanks that could cause a foamy washing solutions.
  • Launch a Gain Calibration.
  • Run a calibration of the problematic methods using new calibrator serum and new reagents.
  • Launch 10 repetitions of the same sample in order to check the precision of the instrument (it’s possible to calculate the coefficient of variation CV that depends by the method and the concentration of the sample).
